
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A 61-year-old man is dead after police say he was hit by a vehicle on Monday evening while crossing Eight Mile Road in Farmington Hills.
In an update to the case, the Farmington Hills Police Department said the pedestrian, a 61-year-old man from Detroit, died of his injuries after he was struck by a driver on westbound Eight Mile Road near Inkster Road just before 7 p.m. on Feb. 6.
Officers were dispatched to the area after receiving numerous calls about a man being hit just west of the intersection.
"Officers arrived on scene and found the subject unconscious in the roadway," police stated. "Farmington Hills Fire Department paramedics arrived on scene and transported the man to Corewell Hospital Farmington Hills where he succumbed to his injuries."
According to police, the driver of the vehicle, identified as a 63-year-old resident of Detroit," stayed at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor for the driver in the fatal crash, police added.
The crash remains under investigation with the Farmington Hills Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section.
