ORION TWP. (WWJ) -- One man is dead and another is hospitalized after a head-on crash in Orion Township on Thursday.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the crash happed at around 5 p.m., as the afternoon rush hour began along Dutton Rd. near Bald Mountain Rd.

Officials said an investigation found a 63-year-old Richmond man was headed east on Dutton when he lost control of his Kia Forte, crossed the median and colliding with westbound Chevy Silverado pickup truck.

After hitting the Chevy, the Kia then crashed into a GMC Yukon.

The Richmond man was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. the sheriff's office said.

The Chevy driver, identified as a 25-year-old Orion Township man, was also taken to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The Yukon driver wasn't injured.

It's unclear at this time what caused the Kia driver to lose control of the car. While the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff's office said it does not appear that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

All three drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
