(WWJ) A 21-year-old Roseville man is facing charges — not just for refusing to pay at an upscale Oakland County restaurant, but for what police found after that.

Troy Police responded just before 9:30 p.m. last Tuesday to Mon Jin Lau, located on E. Maple Rd., on a report of a customer who'd dined at the restaurant, but had no money to pay for his meal.

Officers spoke with the suspect who did not have any identification on him, and showed them only a debit card.

The owner of the business told police that the young man had ordered $57 worth of food, at it, and also had some in take-out container. When the debit card he presented was declined, he was instructed to remove money from an ATM at the restaurant, but ignored the request.

The man was arrested, police said, and in a briefcase he had with him officers discovered a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine, a zip-lock bag containing suspected meth, and 21 debit cards.

The suspect was charged with Possession of methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Defrauding an Innkeeper. His name was not immediately released.
