Man hit and killed by car while trying to cross Little Mack Ave. in Roseville, police investigating

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) -- A 46-year-old man has died after he was hit by a car while trying to cross Little Mack Ave. in Roseville.

According to Roseville Police, the crash happened at around 5 a.m. Tuesday, near the Red Roof Inn.

According to Roseville police, the man ran out into traffic on Little Mack, between 13 Mile Rd. and Masonic, when he was hit by a female driver who was on her way to work.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was going the speed limit, did stop at the scene, and is cooperating with investigators, according to Roseville Police Chief James Berlin.

"It appears to be an unfortunate incident where the male victim did not look both ways while crossing the road," Berlin said. "So, just a lesson to all of us to be safe when we're crossing roadways."

Little Mack was completely closed later in the morning, with the Accident Reconstruction Team investigating.

Reporting from the scene, WWJ's Charlie Langton said police were looking into whether the man was staying at the Red Roof Inn, and where he was headed.

"Not sure why he was crossing the road when he was hit by a car, but be very careful," Langton said. "Lighting is a little bit of an issue here, and this is a pretty big road, Little Mack."
