Police searching for masked man wearing 'Detroit Lions' sweatshirt who assaulted and critically injured John Doe

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are asking for tips from the public to help identify and locate a man wanted in a violent attack in Downtown Detroit.

At around 3:15 a.m. on Monday, March 11, police said the victim — an adult male — was assaulted by the suspect in the 300 block of Michigan Ave.

The suspect fled the scene, and the victim was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition. In a news release by Detroit Police Monday afternoon, police referred to the victim as a John Doe, meaning that he also has yet to be identified.

It's unclear what prompted the attack.

Police described the suspect as a male, possibly in his 20s, wearing a mask and "Detroit Lions hooded sweatshirt."
