(WWJ) A head-on snowmobile crash in Cass County left one man dead and two hospitalized.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office said first responders from multiple agencies responded to the scene north of Dowogiac, about 20 miles northeast of the Indiana border, at approximately 10:15 p.m. Saturday.

Three snowmobiles were involved in the crash, according to the Sheriff.

Two Western Michigan men, 21 and 38, were traveling westbound on the snowmobile trail on separate vessels. An Indiana man, 45, was traveling eastbound.

The snowmobilers were approaching a hill when they collided, according to the Sheriff.

All three were transported to the hospital. The man from Indiana died from his injuries.

The conditions of the survivors are unknown.

Speed is believed to be a factor.  The Sheriff said the three men were wearing helmets.
