Man wanted for robbery, pulling gun on Detroit dollar store employee on Christmas Eve

DETROIT (WWJ) — The search is on for a man accused of pulling a gun on a Detroit dollar store employee during a robbery on Christmas Eve.

Around 10 a.m. on Dec. 24 a man, believed to be in his 50s, walked into the Family Dollar store near Plymouth and Evergreen on Detroit's west side and grabbed multiple items, according to Detroit police.


As he tried to leave without paying, an employee approached the man to get the items back, but the suspect pulled out a handgun, then ran away..

Authorities did not say what items the suspect stole or how much they were worth.

Officials say the suspect is approximately 160-200 lbs. with a light beard and was wearing a black winter coat with fur on the hood, dark blue hooded sweatshirt, and light blue jeans.

Detroit police released the suspect's picture Tuesday night, asking anyone who recognizes him or knows something about the Christmas Eve robbery to call the Detroit Police Department's 6th Precinct at 313-596-5640 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
