
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - The search for a shooting suspect continues after a man was struck several times by gunfire at a large Southfield apartment complex early Friday morning, authorities say.
According to the Southfield Police Department, police and fire personnel were dispatched to the Heights of Southfield apartment complex located at 20925 Lahser Road near 8 Mile on reports of a a person being shot around 3:35 a.m. on Oct. 27.
When authorities arrived at the apartment building, they found a 30-year-old Grandville man with multiple gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene before the victim was rushed to a local hospital.
The man is in critical condition, police added.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reported live from the Heights of Southfield, which he described as "large" apartment complex and with a gated entrance.
"Southfield police clearly on the scene. They're circling this large apartment complex and security are not letting any kind of media anyway into the complex," he reported.
Southfield PS said investigators are continuing to work on identifying and locating the suspect at this time.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
"We're still trying to figure out exactly where the suspect is, if the police have any ideas as to who the suspect is," Langton said."...it's an active scene here."
The investigation is ongoing with more information expected to be released when it becomes available.
