ALLEN PARK— (WWJ) A man was struck by a car and killed on I-94 in Allen Park, Michigan State Police said.
Michigan State Police said the driver responsible told troopers he was traveling in the westbound lane when he saw the pedestrian walking in the same lane.
The driver told troopers he attempted to swerve left to avoid him.
The driver was unable to steer clear of the pedestrian and struck him with the front of the car, according to State Police.
It happened near Oakwood around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
The pedestrian is identified as a 40-year-old man from Hamtramck. Troopers are notifying his family members.
State Police told WWJ the driver is cooperating with the investigation and stopped at the scene.
