INKSTER (WWJ) -- A man who was wanted by Inkster Police for allegedly shooting his girlfriend last weekend, nearly killing her, has been tracked down and arrested.

According to WDIV, 37-year-old Andre Levell-Freeman Williams Jr. was taken into custody by Inkster Police at around 8 p.m. Tuesday. It's not clear where he was found.

He'd been on the run since Saturday night when police said he shot his girlfriend during an argument inside a home on Biltmore Street near Stollman Dr. in Inkster. A SWAT team surrounded and entered the home following the shooting, at around 9:45 p.m., but Williams had already fled the scene, police said.

The public was asked to keep an eye out for the gunman, but not to approach him as he was considered armed and dangerous.

Police said the victim was listed in critical condition at a local hospital, where she was treated for a gunshot wound to the neck that was nearly fatal.

There was no update on the woman's condition on Wednesday. Her name was not released.

Expected charges against Williams are pending.
