WARREN (WWJ) — A man and woman are behind bars after stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a store in Warren on Thursday.

Warren police got a call just before noon Thursday reporting a man and woman had walked into a jewelry store near 13 Mile and Hoover Roads, posing as potential customers.

Store employees called 911 after the suspects allegedly stole more than $25,000 worth of jewelry from the store. Officials did not immediately say whether the suspects were armed or how they stole the jewelry.

Warren police officers quickly responded to the scene and got a description of the suspects and their vehicle, which was shared with other Warren police officers and surrounding jurisdictions.

Less than a half hour later, Hazel Park police officers spotted the suspect vehicle heading south on I-75 towards Detroit. Officers pulled the car over and talked with a man and woman who matched the suspects' description.

Officers recovered all the stolen jewelry, as well as "a large amount of cash," according to Warren police.

Officials did not immediately identify the jewelry store that was robbed.

The suspects were taken to the Warren Police Department Jail. Their names and ages have not been released, as the investigation is still ongoing.

Investigators will be looking to see if these suspects are linked to any additional crimes, Warren police officials said.

Warren police expect to release more details on the incident as the investigation continues.
