WAYNE COUNTY (WWJ) - A manhunt continues for a suspect who took items from a market in Grosse Pointe Farms and appeared to brandish a gun at an employee before fleeing the area on foot Thursday morning.
The Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety sent an urgent message to the public, stating that they were actively looking for an armed suspect involved in a robbery at the Village Food Market at Mack and McKinley avenues.
The suspect allegedly entered the store around 7:40 a.m. on February 15 and committed retail fraud, police added. When he was confronted by a store employee, he brandished what appeared to be a handgun.
The man than left the store on foot and was last seen walking eastbound down the Mack Ave. alley toward Moran Road.
Police said the suspect, identified as a male, was wearing tan pants, a dark jacket and possible Amazon vest.

"Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety and other mutual aid cities immediately responded to the situation," a press release from the department stated. "A perimeter was set, and officers checked the area for the subject. GPF drone unit was also deployed."

"Officers are currently searching yards in the Mack and Chalfonte area," police stated.
As of 10 a.m., he had yet to be located. The suspect is considered armed, although authorities believe he may have left the area.
Drivers have been asked to use alternative routes and avoid where police are investigating.
