DETROIT (WWJ) Michigan State Police are trying to piece together clues on what lead to a man's body lying on a Detroit road.
State Police say they were called to the southbound Gratiot ramp to I-75 around 1:45 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found a man partially sprawled across the road. They tried to administer first aid, but he had already passed away.
The wounds on the body, and the surrounding area pointed to a hit-and-run crash. A witness told troopers she saw a "dark colored SUV" driving near the scene.
Troopers identified the victim using a portable fingerprint scanner. His name and age have not been released.
Investigators are trying to gather security video and a better description of the suspect's vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call Michigan State Police at (734) 287-5000 or leave a tip on their mobile app.
