MDOT shares photos of driver who went around road sign and into wet concrete

(WWJ) -- File this one in the "oops" department.

The Michigan Department of Transportation tweeted a couple of photos Thursday with a little friendly reminder to obey road construction signs.

The photos show a white van or SUV that had attempted to skirt a "ramp closed" sign along southbound I-275 near Eureka Road some time this week, only to drive straight into freshly poured concrete.

"When ramps/lanes are blocked off, there's a reason, like wet concrete," the post said.

It's not clear what led to the driver disobeying traffic laws, or who will have to pay for the damage.

Through October, only one lane in that area is open in both directions on I-275 between I-94 and S. Huron Road.

In the meantime, drivers are reminded to believe them when they say "road closed."
