(WWJ) -- A massive road construction project along I-275 begins this week.
Today marks the start of several closures that are part of a 24 mile repair and rebuild of I-275 that will last for four years, and affect more than 100,000 drivers.
Dubbed "Revive 275," the project will work on areas along the freeway from 6 Mile Road all the way to Will Carleton Road.
The work starts on the south end of the project, so beginning today and going through the fall, I-275 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between I-94 and South Huron River Road.
Pennsylvania Road will also be closed over I-275 through August.
Then, starting Wednesday, travelers heading to Metro Airport will need a heads up.
The northbound I-275 ramp to Eureka Road —the airport entrance — will be closed. Airport access will be available instead on eastbound I-94 via the Merriman Road exit.
