
They're thick, they're creamy ... they're alcoholic.
After the explosion of White Claw and other boozy -- yet light -- seltzers on the market, a metro Detroit brewery believes they have the next big thing.
One part smoothie, one part seltzer, and with a nice buzz -- Meet the seltzer smoothie.
They're called Smooj, and they're a new line of hard seltzer smoothies unleashed by HOMES Brewery' in Ann Arbor, Mich. The brewery says the seltzer smoothies will be on shelves throughout Michigan in a few weeks.
And they make look a little familiar as brewers say they'll come in the same slim-style 12-oz. can that house White Claw. But these will be thick, creamy and loaded with real fruit.
They're also 5% alcohol by volume, gluten and dairy free. More dense than seltzer competitors, each can has 240-297 calories.
"It's so full-flavored," Tommy Kennedy, owner of HOMES Brewery, told freep.com. "A ton of fruit helps give it that body, and it tastes more full than I could have expected."
Initially, the flavors strawberry banana and pina colada will be offered, with more taste sensations on the way.
They're garnering buzz on social media. "This is just delicious. So creamy, with a custard-like head. Dessert in a glass, makes me wish I was on a beach right now, " reviewer Nick wrote on Untapped.
They're only being distributed in Michigan at the moment. See locations here.
But users across social media are asking when they'll be available in places like California, Maryland and Rhode Island. The answer from the company? "We'll see what we can do."
