GRAND BLANC, Mich. (WWJ) -- A mid-Michigan man is facing multiple charges after being arrested for possession of child sexually abusive material.
The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force says 27-year-old Mark Christopher Herrick of Grand Blanc, was arrested last month after an investigation.
The investigation began after authorities discovered Herrick had been viewing files of child sexually abusive material on the internet. Authorities seized digital evidence from Herrick after executing a search warrant at his residence.
Herrick was arraigned on Friday in 67th District Court, facing three counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about the safe use of the internet, saying there are many resources available to parents to help keep their children safe.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provides a comprehensive list of resources on their website, while the MSP ICAC Task Force has a list of its own resources online.
Authorities are asking anyone who has information regarding possible child sexual exploitation to report it to the CyberTipLine at https://www.missingkids.org/cybertipline.
