ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ)— A St. Clair Shores man has been indicted on charges of illegally importing Glock conversion devices from Russia and failing to keep proper records.

United States Attorney Dawn Ison announced the charges against Chase Farmer, 23.

Farmer owns a federally licensed firearms dealer, Shall Not Be Infringed LLC, in Clinton Township. Farmer is licensed to sell firearms, but not import them, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Farmer illegally imported Glock conversion devices and drop-in auto sears through a Russian website from November 2020 to March 2021.

“Glock conversion devices and drop-in sears are used to convert standard firearms into machine guns that allow the firearms to fire multiple rounds at once,” prosecutors said in a statement, “and thus, are highly dangerous.”

According to prosecutors, Farmer attempted to evade authorities while making the purchases by using fake names and false information in his PayPal account.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The ATF Special Agent in Charge, Craig Kailimai, joined Ison in making the announcement.

"An indictment is only a formal charging document, and is not evidence of guilt," prosecutors said in a statement.

Farmer could face up to a decade in prison if convicted.
