(WWJ) The Wayne County Prosecutor has announced new charges against a man accused of stalking Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and her wife, Plymouth City Commissioner Alanna Maguire.
Christopher Dean Baldwin, of Jackson, was arrested earlier this month, according to a release by Prosecutor Kym Worthy. He charged with misdemeanor stalking, after he showed up at Nessel's family home in Plymouth and sat on her porch.
During an investigation into the incident, Worthy said it was uncovered that Baldwin also stalked Nessel at a March 5 city commission meeting where Maguire was in attendance, but was chased away by security.
He is charged with with two counts of Misdemeanor Stalking in connection with those incidents.
Regarding the additional charges: On February 27, 2025, it is alleged Baldwin used the address for Attorney General Nessel and Maguire’s home and Nessel’s phone number without permission, to receive court documents from 12th District Court in Jackson County.
For that, Baldwin has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Stalking, which is a felony charge.
During a preliminary hearing last week in that case, it was determined that Baldwin was incompetent for four months. He is now under the jurisdiction of Wayne County Third Circuit Court Probate Division and is housed in a "secure facility."
According to the prosecutor's order, if or when Baldwin is ruled competent, his case can proceed to trial.
“We are alleging once again that the defendant in this case continues to harass our State Attorney General and her wife,” said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. “This is criminal behavior and cannot be tolerated.”
Baldwin was arraigned on the new felony charges on March 27, in 35th District Court. He was given a $200,000 cash/surety bond with a tether if he is released.
His next scheduled court date is a Probable Cause Conference, set for April 4.
