(WWJ) -- It's Star Wars Day, and Michiganders are feeling the force!
Over the course of 2021, there have been 12 reported UFO sightings in Michigan, several of which occurred in the metro Detroit area, according to the National UFO Reporting Center.
The most recent report came from Clarkston in early April, where someone observed “Two instances of a formation of three lights moving rapidly across the sky.”
The NURC website suggests that the U.S. may be an increasingly popular destination for our other-worldly friends, as UFO sightings are up across the country.

Last year, the center received more than 7,200 sighting reports, compared to about 6,000 the year before.
Michigan's sightings have been on the rise over the last two years, logging 135 reports in 2019 and 179 reports in 2020.

4/2/21 – Clarkston, MI: Two instances of a formation of three lights moving rapidly across the sky.
3/12/21 – Battle Creek, MI: Triangular lights.
2/27/21 – Riverdale, MI: 1 Diamond-shaped lit object flying from Earth at rapid speed.
2/26/21 – Pinckney, MI: Observed very large circular object with white lights along edges top and bottom. Observed moving around a 50-mile area at an altitude.
1/29/21 – Kentwood, MI: A line of lights just appeared in the sky over the building on the street behind me. There was no sound.
1/29/21 – Warren, MI: Light is continually flashing in the south west sky. No movement. Seen with the naked eye.

1/17/21 – Jonesville, MI: Strange flashing lights across the sky.
