DETROIT (WWJ) -- Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says her office is making moves to reach and assist more residents where they already are.

Speaking live on WWJ Newsradio 950 Monday afternoon, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced to addition of two new mobile branch offices: Once to be located in Central Michigan's Ingham County, and another in West Michigan.

At these offices — which travel to events, museums and community gather spots — Benson said Michiganders can do what they can do at any typical branch office, including vehicle title transfers, license renewals and more.

"My office has worked really hard to bring services to where people already are, and we launched a mobile office in Southeast Michigan earlier this year," Benson said. "It's been enormously popular because it brings all of our services directly to senior centers and other places where people already are gathering."

Benson said the two new mobile offices will be up and running next week, and she does have plans to add several more.

"My goal and my hope is to have seven (mobile) branch offices throughout the state; one even all the way up in the Upper Peninsula," she said. "Because these are a great way of also reaching rural residents who have to sometimes travel long ways to get to a stand-alone branch office. We want to find places in communities that people are already going, and bring those services directly to them."

Want to test one out yourself? All this week those attending the North American International Auto Show can find and make use of a mobile office set up at Detroit's Huntington Place (formerly Cobo Center). [Get Auto Show hours and more information HERE.]
