ROMULUS, Mich. (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police are praising a "good boy" for his help in tracking down a "bad guy" on Monday in Romulus.
MSP tweeted out a picture of a police canine named Milo Monday night with little details, but we now know more about the story.
Authorities say Romulus police requested for Milo and his partner, Trooper Morrow, to track a shooting suspect who was believed to still be armed with a pistol.
Members of MSP's Emergency Support team and another canine unit were called to help out. Milo and his partner were able to locate the suspect during the track. After the suspect was taken into custody, Milo then located a 9mm Glock 19 in heavy brush during an article search.
The suspect and weapon were both turned over to Romulus police.
Authorities did not disclose further details about the shooting or the suspect and it was unclear if anyone was injured.
"Great job by everyone to bring this to a peaceful resolution and keep the public safe," MSP Metro Detroit tweeted.
