ROYALTON TWP., Mich. (WWJ) – A West Michigan woman is dead after trying to cross a road in her wheelchair late Saturday night.
Emily Rudman, 39, was crossing M-139 in Royalton Township – just south of St. Joseph, near the shores of Lake Michigan – around 10:30 p.m. when she was hit, according to a report from WWMT in Kalamazoo.
Authorities say she was nearly hit by a northbound vehicle, and was then hit by one headed in the other direction.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Rudman stopped at the scene and was cooperating with the Berrien County Sheriff's Office, authorities said.
Officials have not released any more details about the crash, which is still under investigation.
