(WWJ) -- Roundabouts are certainly plentiful in Michigan, but if you can steer clear, these might be the ones to avoid.
Michigan Auto Law has shared its findings on the state's most dangerous roundabouts for 2020, and intersections in southeastern Michigan make up the majority of the list.
Coming in at number one is the traffic circle at 18 1/2 Mile Road at Van Dyke in Sterling Heights, with 131 total crashes and eight injuries over the last year.
Rounding out the top three are the roundabouts at Martin Parkway and North Pontiac Trail in Commerce Township -- 110 crashes and four injuries -- and the one locate at Orchard Lake Road and 14 Mile Road in Farmington Hills -- 89 crashes and 11 injuries.
The circular design of a roundabout is intended to allow traffic to flow more efficiently and smoothly, where the intersection had previously been congested.
However, a lot of drivers tend to find them confusing or become nervous when approaching them, therefore causing accidents and injuries.
In fact, four of the top 20 intersections with the most car crashes overall in Michigan throughout 2020 were roundabouts.
