A missing family from Bay City has been found dead in a wooded area of northern Michigan.
The family included Amanda Pomeroy, 32, Michael Dougherty, 35, and their 8-month-old son Jacob.
The clan was reported missing Jan. 16.
Authorities discovered their bodies Saturday afternoon after a snowmobiler came across a stranded vehicle in a remote area of Rose Township in Ogemaw County.
Police say the bodies were found outside of the vehicle, which was disabled. MLive reported their truck was stuck on a big rock and Dougherty appeared to be attempting to remove it.
A cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, and an investigation is ongoing.
“There’s a lot of unanswered questions that we need to know,” the Ogemaw County sheriff told MLive. “We’re doing autopsies right now, so we’ll have some final answers (soon).”
