CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) -- The Macomb College Police Department says it is investigating after a human body was found in the ventilation system of a building on the college's Center Campus over the weekend.
Police said the discovery was made Sunday night by someone who was looking into the source of a "foul odor" at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, which is attached to the campus on Garfield Rd.
Police said they have identified the body as that of 36-year-old Jason Anthony Thompson, from Clinton Township. He was reported missing to the Sterling Heights Police Department by his family on Nov. 1. He had not been seen since Oct. 25.
It's unclear how Thompson died.
However police said this is not a homicide investigation at this time.
"There is no reason to suspect foul play," said Macomb College Police Chief William Leavens, in a statement. "At this point, it is important to remember that this an ongoing investigation, with the goal to understand the circumstances."
"Our deepest condolences go out to his family," Leavens said.
