SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A missing Michigan woman was tracked down to a Southfield hotel where a man she allegedly met online forced her to have sex with others, troopers said.
Michigan State Police in Metro Detroit said they became aware of a missing 21-year-old woman in their district on Friday after being contacted by state police from Lapeer.
According to MSP, law enforcement and family members of the missing woman were able to find several commercial sex ads for her that were posted within the Oakland County area.
Troopers said detectives were able to find the woman at the Marvin Gardens Motel off Northwestern Service Drive in Southfield.
"After speaking with the woman it was determined she was being forced into sex trafficking by a male she had met through social media," state police said. "She added that the suspect would sit in his car in the parking lot near her room during her “dates” and had control of her phone."
Two other girls were found by police at the same hotel and interviewed.
Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify a 33-year-old suspect, who was later arrested by members of the Michigan State Police's Emergency Support Team during a traffic stop.
Police were able to obtain a search warrant for the suspect's home where several items of evidence were discovered and seized.
The suspect, whose name has not been released by authorities, remains in jail while charges are pending the Oakland County Prosecutor's review.
The case remains under police investigation at this time, authorities said.
