
MONROE (WWJ) - Detectives are continuing to looking into what led to the death of a 17-year-old boy who was discovered unresponsive in his vehicle on Wednesday morning.
According to the Monroe Public Safety Department, officers were called out to Veteran's Park in the 1600 block of N. Custer Road after receiving reports of a young man in need of help.
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a 17-year-old man in his vehicle. The young man was initially found by his father and a concerned neighbor dialed police after hearing a commotion.
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the victim's identity is being withheld at this time out of respect for the family, but an investigation is underway.
There is no suspicion of foul play, officers added. No other details about the incident have been released.
"We offer our sincere condolences to the friends and family of the individual," the department said. "Police Chaplain Services were utilized to comfort the family through this very difficult situation."
City of Monroe Fire crews helped at the scene, as well as the Monroe Community Ambulance.
