NEWPORT (WWJ) -- Police in Monroe County are investigating reports of gunfire at a downriver apartment complex in Newport.
Investigators say the situation occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Newport Woods apartment complex on Canterberry Lane near the I-75/I-275 interchange.
Multiple witnesses called Monroe County Central Dispatch to report shots being fired in one of parking lots of the complex. The suspect reportedly fled in a black Dodge Charger before deputies arrived at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, no one was shot or injured.
Authorities believe the suspect is a 25-year-old man from Newport, but no other details have been released at this time.
Michigan State Police and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources were also on the scene assisting with the investigation.
