(WWJ) There's more rain coming down on an already drenched metro Detroit.
Keeping an eye on the radar, WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore says there's lots of rain -- and a chance for some more severe storms -- on a hot and humid Tuesday afternoon, and then again Tuesday evening and overnight.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for parts of metro Detroit until 4:15 p.m. (see map below). Strong wind gusts up to 60 mph and small hail have been reported.
Before 5 p.m., more then 50,000 DTE Energy customers had lost power in the latest storms. ((Check the DTE Outage Map))
How bad will it get this time? The National Weather Service says there's a "marginal risk" for severe weather in Southeast Michigan on Tuesday, meaning isolated severe thunderstorms are possible.
NWS says the main threats will be lightning, locally heavy rainfall, and damaging wind gusts.
On Wednesday, DeVore said we're looking at more rain, with a shower or thunderstorm once again possible.
Thursday and Friday are looking better, with humidity decreasing; although DeVore said he can't rule out yet another popup shower or thunderstorm either day.
Another downpour could complicate cleanup efforts still ongoing after the last round of rain.
More than 6 inches fell in just few hours Friday and Saturday, causing what the governor called a "500-year flooding event."
Pump failures left roads and freeways looking like rivers, and left basements flooded in Detroit, Dearborn and the Grosse Pointes. A 4-mile stretch of I-94, from I-96 to Michigan Avenue, remains closed due to flooding.
Looking ahead to the holiday weekend, there is some good news: DeVore says "Saturday looks amazing" with highs in the mid-to upper 70s with low humidity and some sunshine in the forecast.
Sunday, the 4th of July isn't looking too bad, with a high around 80 and some sunny intervals; although there is a shower or two possible.
