(WWJ) — BEERB0Y, WEEDMAN, 0HI0SUX and UMBA55 (paired with the Detroit Tigers special cause plate), are among the more than 25,000 vanity license plates banned in Michigan.

Michigan allows drivers to customize their license plates, but you can’t take it too far.

While the state doesn’t track rejected license plates by year, there’s a growing list of banned vanity plates, recently obtained through a FOIA request by Bridge Michigan.

License plates are “generally rejected for reasons such as vulgarity, references to bodily functions, or the use of curse words,” according to the publication. Other reasons for rejection include references to drugs, alcohol, criminal activity, or harmful slurs.

Many Michigan drivers have apparently tried to get creative with making such vanity plates, but have been shot down by a group of about 25 volunteers who review requests, according to the report.

Some have tried to use special cause license plates — like the Michigan State University “block S,” University of Michigan “block M” or Detroit Tigers’ “Old English D” logos — to spell inappropriate words or phrases.

Many have attempted to take shots at our neighbors to the southeast, with the likes of "0HI0SUX," "IH80HI0" or other variations of the like.

A full list of rejected license plates can be found here.

Michiganders looking to get a personalized license plate can check the plate’s availability on the Secretary of State website and see how it would look if approved.
