18-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash on Eureka Rd. in Taylor

TAYLOR (WWJ) -- Speeding is a suspected factor in a crash that killed a young motorcyclist Downriver Monday morning.

According to police, a motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Taylor, along Eureka Rd. at Village Pond, between Inkster and Beech Daly, at around 7:50 a.m.

The motorcycle driver, identified as an 18-year-old Taylor man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reporting from the scene later in the morning, WWJ's Charlie Langton said there was still a lot of police activity, along with the Taylor Fire Department and EMS, on the scene.

According to Taylor Police Chief John Blair, witnesses told investigators that the motorcyclist was speeding when the crash occurred, and excessive speed does appear to have been a factor.

Eureka Rd. was closed in both directions for the on-scene investigation, but all lanes have since reopened to traffic.

The name of the young man who died was not immediately released.

No one else was hurt.

The investigation is ongoing.
