(WWJ) – As fall arrives in Michigan, police are reminding drivers to watch out for deer crossings.

A Michigan State Police trooper got a first-hand reminder as dash cam video captured a deer jumping over a car in front of it.

While authorities have not said when or where the incident happened, video shows the deer leap over a sedan somewhere in Southwest Michigan. Trooper Anderson then used quick braking to avoid hitting another deer.

MSP officials say if deer cross your path, you should apply controlled braking, steer straight and avoid swerving.

While vehicle-deer crashes are a year-round issue for motorists across the state, deer are most active during the spring and fall months, the latter of which due to the hunting and breeding season.
