VAN BUREN TWP., Mich. (WWJ) -- Many metro Detroit drivers had a big headache to deal with during the Monday afternoon commute after downed power lines left I-275 closed for several hours.
Michigan State Police say the northbound and southbound lanes of I-275 were closed between Ecorse Road and I-94 after a dump truck struck a power pole near Hannan Road in Van Buren Township, knocking down power lines across both directions of the freeway around 4 p.m.
It was not clear what led to the incident, but the freeway remained closed as of 6:30 p.m. as crews investigated the scene and worked to clean up the mess.
