WARREN (WWJ) — Michigan State Police and numerous local law enforcement agencies have made a pair of massive drug busts this week, including one in Detroit on Thursday that saw about $250,000 worth of drugs seized.

MSP officials on Thursday announced the results of two raids, one in Warren on Jan. 28 and one in Detroit on Jan. 30. Officials did not disclose the locations of the searches.

The first search warrant was executed Tuesday by the County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) — a task force made of detectives from MSP, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Chesterfield Twp., Shelby Twp., Roseville and St. Clair Shores.

In total, COMET detectives seized about 2,000 pressed methamphetamine pills, 3.5 ounces of Ketamine, multiple ounces of cocaine, nearly an ounce of MDMA (aka Ecstasy) and 2 lbs. of psilocybin mushrooms.

COMET also seized an assault rifle, a handgun, a vehicle and more than $19,000 in cash, officials said.

On Thursday, meanwhile, the MSP Metro Narcotics Enforcement Team (MNET) and several other agencies made a raid in Detroit. That led to the seizure of 5.3 kilograms of fentanyl, 5.7 kilos of cocaine, 106 grams of ketamine and 3,229 Schedule 2 pills.

Those drugs had a street value of about $250,000, according to MSP. Officials did not release the estimated street value of the drugs seized in Warren.

MNET also recovered six guns — three of which were reported stolen — and seized more than $70,000 in cash in the Detroit operation.

MSP officials say one of the guns seized in Detroit was equipped with a switch, a machine gun conversion device that converts a semiautomatic pistol into a machine gun.

MNET is a task force comprised of detectives from MSP, Van Buren Township, Allen Park, Taylor, Michigan Department of Corrections, Inkster, and Wyandotte.

MSP officials did not say whether any arrests were made in either case. It was not immediately clear whether the drug busts were connected in any way.
