State Police: Flooded freeways strand "thousands" of cars across metro Detroit, more rain on the way

(WWJ) Major flooding is causing problems all across metro Detroit Saturday morning.

First Lieutenant Mike Shaw estimates "thousands" of cars are stranded in standing water on flooded freeways. Several people were rescued. Homeowners across the area are dealing with flood damage, especially in the Grosse Pointes, Dearborn, Detroit and other parts of Wayne County.


As of 6:30 a.m. Saturday, about 33,000 DTE customers were without power across the listening area.

Accuweather reports localized hail, flash flooding, and even an isolated tornado are all possible Saturday evening.
