(WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating a shooting involving a trooper from the Flint Post.
State Police said troopers attempted to stop a driver on Brownwell and Pasadena for a traffic violation, around 11:15 p.m. Saturday.
A Flint man, 24, jumped out of the side door of the car with a gun and started to run away from troopers, according to State Police.
He continued running and fired shots at troopers as they chased him, disobeying their commands to drop the weapon.
State Police told WWJ one of the troopers discharged his department-issued firearm, shooting the suspect.
Troopers rendered first aid, and he was rushed to a local hospital.
He is listed in "good condition."
The suspect vehicle drove away during the confrontation but was found a few hours later.
The trooper, a two-year veteran of the force, is on administrative leave in accordance with department policy while investigators from outside the post probe into the shooting. He was not injured.
