WARREN (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police clocked a driver speeding at 114 miles per hour on a Metro Detroit freeway, then found an illegal weapon in the car when they pulled him over.
At 6 a.m. on Sunday, January 15, a Metro North trooper stopped a driver who was allegedly going 114 miles per hour on eastbound I-696 in Warren -- where the speed limit is 70 miles per hour.
During the traffic stop, the driver -- a 31-year-old Warren man -- told the state trooper he had a loaded handgun under the passenger seat.
Upon further investigation, the officer found that the man did not have a permit for the firearm.
The trooper confiscated the gun and took the driver into custody for carrying a concealed weapon.
