Mt. Clemens woman charged with attempted murder in manchette attack on man riding bike

CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) -- An arraignment was held Monday for a Mount Clemens woman -- who's accused of attacking a man with a machete last week.

Michelle Thomas, 28, is charged with two felony counts: assault with intent to murder and carrying a concealed weapon.

Appearing in 41-B Clinton Township District Court, she was given a $100,000 cash/ surety bond with the conditions that she wear a GPS tether upon release, and have no contact with the victim, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators are still trying to determine a link between Thomas and the 19-year-old man on a bike whom she allegedly attacked on Sept. 23 at around 7 a.m., in the area of Church Street and Gratiot Ave. in Mt. Clemens.

Witnesses who called 911 were able to provide a description of the suspect, who was found on foot a few streets down.

The woman, later identified as Thomas, was arrested by deputies who seized a broad blade she was carrying.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of multiple lacerations, officials said.

The sheriff's office said the young man remained hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries as of Tuesday afternoon.

Thomas is scheduled to return to court next Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Tips are still being sought in this case. Anyone with information should call Detective Pascaretti at 586-783-8118.
