Homeless Mt. Pleasant man charged for imprisoning; sexually assaulting woman

(MOUNT PLEASANT) -- Criminal charges for a homeless Mt. Pleasant man who allegedly imprisoned and sexually assaulted a woman for a week.

22-year-old William Thompson is facing multiple charges; including First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, Unlawful Imprisonment, and three firearm felonies. A 21-year-old woman says Thompson held her in a tent for a week after threatening her with a weapon. She says he sexually assaulted her during her imprisonment.

She managed to escape the tent, contact police, and tell them Thompson's location. He was then arrested. The firearm felonies include Felonious Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon with Unlawful Intent.

Thompson is being held on a $1 million bond and is due back in court September 11th.
