OAK PARK (WWJ) -- Students at an Oakland County High School will revert back to virtual learning on Wednesday after an incident involving several adult men who forced their way into the building.
Oak Park High School will be virtual for the rest of the week after a huge fight between a group of adults happened inside the building on Tuesday.
The superintendent of Oak Park Schools, Dr. Jamii J. Hitchcock, said the scuffle occurred just before 3 p.m. when 8 to 10 men pushed past security and staff -- forcing their way into the building -- and began fighting with students and security personnel.
According to the district, no weapons were involved in this incident.
The men fled the scene and were not taken into custody, but police are currently investigating and have already identified at least one of the men involved.
The district said the incident may have stemmed from another altercation that happened off school property over the weekend.
"At Oak Park Schools, violence of any kind will not be tolerated," said Hitchcock.
The school will return to virtual learning for the remainder of the week due to an "abundance of caution" and because the suspects are still at large.
