HIGHLAND TWP. (WWJ) – Police are investigating after a student from the Huron Valley School District was killed in a car crash involving a school bus on Thursday afternoon in northern Oakland County.
Sheriff's deputies closed the intersection of Duck Lake and Cooley Lake Roads near Highland Township due to the crash.
A message sent out to parents from the Superintendent of the Huron Valley District on Thursday says it appears a student at Lakeland High School in White Lake Township turned in front of the bus.
Police officials have not commented on the crash. It was not immediately clear whether any students were on the bus at the time of the crash or if there were any other injuries.
The District is planning to have counselors available to help students and teachers as needed.
