FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - No rescue is too big or too small for Metro Detroit firefighters, even if the rescue is four-legged, covered in fur and trapped almost 35 feet up in a tree.

The Farmington Hills Fire Department said they did not hesitate to help local resident Doug Busko reunite with his cat, Martina, after she scaled a large tree where she became stuck for three days at the beginning of the week.

City officials said firefighter Dave Caloia, assisted by Lieutenant Dan Przeworski, grabbed their ladders and responded to the trapped cat off Minglewood Lane on Wednesday, July 27.

Caloia was able to retrieve Martina, who was perched on a tree branch over 24 feet above the ground, officials added.

"Our firefighters are known for showing compassion for all residents, including feline members of the community," Farmington Hills officials said in a social media post sharing the happy reunion.

Outside of being tired and hungry, authorities said it was happy ending for Martina and her owner.
