MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) -- Authorities in Macomb County say they've now identified a body that was pulled from the Clinton River this week, and have concluded that the man drowned.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said a call came in about a "possible body" in the river, under the southbound Gratiot Ave. bridge, in Mount Clemens.
A 911 caller said he spotted what appeared to be two feet in the middle of the Clinton River, reporting there was also a lot of debris in the water.
Deputies responded and confirmed that what the witness saw was in fact a human body underwater, officials said.
The MCSO Marine Division arrived to assist and removed the body from the water.
In an update Friday, the sheriff's office said the person has been identified as 59-year old Gregory Leino from Eastpointe.
Nothing suspicious was found no foul play is suspected, officials said.
The Macomb County Medical Examiner has listed drowning as the man's cause of death.
