Ohio TSA employee charged in Wayne County freeway shooting

ROMULUS (WWJ) An Ohio TSA employee has been charged with shooting a Romulus man’s vehicle on I-275.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Alec Thieman; 28 of Delta, Ohio; with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Felonious Assault, Reckless Driving, Commission of a Felony with a Motor Vehicle, and three counts of Felony Firearm.*

Prosecutors said Thieman fired a handgun, striking the victim’s vehicle. It happened on Wednesday (6/12) around 6:40 a.m. on I-275 near Pennsylvania Rd. in Huron Township. The victim, 46, was not injured by any bullets.

Michigan State Police dubbed it a “road rage shooting.”

After the shooting; State Police said they responded to a parking lot in Romulus where they found the victim, unhurt, with multiple bullet holes in his car.

State Police recovered a pistol from the suspect’s vehicle.

Romulus Police already had the suspect in custody by the time troopers arrived in the parking lot.

Thieman was arraigned on Friday morning and given a $250,000 cash bond. He’s due back in court on June 26th.
