DEARBORN HGTS. (WWJ) -- One person is in police custody in connection with online threats aimed at a school in Dearborn Heights on Monday.
According to the Dearborn Heights Police Department, it was notified at around 1:30 p.m. by another law enforcement agency about "possible threatening statements" made on social media that were directed at a school in Dearborn Heights.
Police said Dearborn Heights officers and detectives responded quickly and were able to locate a person of interest.
Following further investigation, the suspect was taken into custody, police said.
The Dearborn Heights PD did not say which school in the city it was, and details were not released about what exactly the threatening statements said.
Police said, in a statement:"No weapons were found during the investigation. All indications are that this is an isolated incident, and there is no further threat to any schools based on this incident."
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and that the department will submit a warrant request through the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office once it's complete.
The police department added, in a statement, that it "takes all threats of violence very seriously and will prosecute anyone making threats to the fullest extent of the law."
There is no information at this time about this suspect, and it's unclear if it's a student.
This is at least the second school threat case under investigation in Metro Detroit so far this school year. A week ago, extra officers were deployed to Millennium Middle School, in Oakland County's South Lyon, after law enforcement learned of social media posts talking about guns and ammo.
