FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) A driver was killed in a fiery crash in Farmington Hills.
Michigan State Police said the driver was traveling westbound on I-696, approaching I-96, when another vehicle rear-ended the car. The crash happened Saturday around 9:40 a.m. near Halsted Rd.

The impact forced the driver to lose control, run off the roadway and strike a tree, State Police said.
The car burst into flames, according to police. The driver was trapped inside and pronounced dead at the scene.
The at-fault vehicle came to a rest on the left shoulder of the highway, with two people inside. They were not hurt.
The name and age of the victim have not been released.
Police said they will forward the findings of the investigation to the prosecutor to review any possible charges.
