One killed in two-car-crash in Chesterfield Township

CHESTERFIELD (WWJ) A two-car crash in Chesterfield Township killed one person.

Chesterfield Township Police said witnesses told them a woman; 32 of Chesterfield; driving on northbound Gratiot lost control of her car and crossed into the oncoming traffic lane. She was struck by a man; 44 of Chesterfield; driving on southbound Gratiot. It happened on Friday (5/31) around 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of D'hondt near 21 Mile Road.


The drivers of both vehicles were rushed to a local hospital for injuries, police said. Their condition is not known.

The passenger in the northbound vehicle, who's identity is unknown at this time, was pronounced dead upon arriving at the hospital. The woman riding in the southbound vehicle; 43 of Chesterfield; was also hospitalized with injuries.

Gratiot between 22 and 21 Mile remained closed while the Chesterfield Police Accident Team and detectives investigated the scene.
