Social media post suggests Kwame Kilpatrick is back in Detroit

(WWJ) Embattled former Detroit mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, appears to be back in Detroit.

A post on Instagram by Detroit barber, Al Wilson, shows two pictures of Kilpatrick, 50, in his barber shop Cut It Out International on East Jefferson.

One photo is of Kilpatrick showing his lined-up beard and faded haircut, and the other is a photo of Wilson and Kilpatrick clasping hands at the shop.

The post caption reads: “Welcome home bro!”

With less than 12 hours left in office, former President Donald Trump commuted the sentence of Kilpatrick, releasing him 20 years early from the Federal Correctional Institution in Oakdale, Louisiana.

He had served about seven years behind bars, and was not expected to be paroled until at least January, 2037.

He served as mayor of Detroit from 2002 to 2008.

While he may be back in the Motor City, Kilpatrick cannot hold state or local public office for 20 years after his conviction.
