MELVINDALE (WWJ) – A Downriver drug dealer has been arrested after a recent drug overdose investigation led police to his home and a bakery where he was selling drugs.

Michigan State Police have not identified the suspect, but said a 31-year-old Melvindale man was arrested at his home last week.

Detectives with MSP's Metro Narcotics Enforcement Team (MNET) recently began investigating the prescription drug dealer after they believe he was directly involved in an overdose death in Melvindale.

On Oct. 13 MNet detectives executed two search warrants at the man's home and at a bakery in Melvindale where he was allegedly conducting narcotics deals, according to MSP officials.

During the raids, MNET detectives, Melvindale police officers and MSP Emergency Services Team members seized more than 300 prescription pills, more than $5,000 in cash and a large amount of jewelry.

Authorities have not said where the man lives or which bakery he was allegedly selling out of.

Officials also did not release any information about the person who died from the overdose.

It was not immediately clear what type of drugs the suspect is accused of selling.

No information on possible charges or arraignment has been released.
